They show that self-improving coding agents work.

The best part is that their approach, Self-Improvement via Fast Tree-search (SIFT), runs at a tenth of the CPU hours of DGM.

They reach 35.1 percent on Polyglot with o3-mini after 30 expansions. DGM reaches 30.7 percent after 80 nodes of tree search.

SIFT does it in under 50 CPU hours and under 5 hours of wall clock. The Qwen3-30B configuration runs its full search at 224 CPU hours and $34 of API spend, a tenth of the DGM baseline.

The saving comes from where the money goes.

Benchmark evaluation is the runtime bottleneck, so an LLM judge ranks candidate self-modifications first and only promising candidates get evaluated.

Judge quality decides the run.

On TerminalBench, gpt-5.4-high as the pairwise judge finds a 36.7 percent agent against a 29.2 percent starting point. gpt-5 finds 34.5 percent, and its top-ranked candidate is not the best agent its search produced.

La incredulidad de Santo Tomás es una de las obras maestras más célebres del pintor barroco italiano Caravaggio creada entre 1601 y 1602. 

Esta pintura al óleo sobre lienzo destaca por su impactante crudeza visual y es considerada uno de los máximos exponentes del naturalismo y el tenebrismo en la historia del arte. 

 La escena plasma de forma literal el pasaje del Evangelio de Juan (20:24-29). Jesús resucitado se aparece ante el apóstol Tomás, quien se había negado a creer en la resurrección a menos que pudiera tocar físicamente las heridas de la crucifixión. 

Lejos de idealizar el momento místico, Caravaggio muestra a un Jesús profundamente humano y compasivo que toma firmemente la mano de Tomás para guiar e introducir su dedo índice directamente dentro de la abierta herida del costado. 

Las cabezas de los tres apóstoles forman una estructura triangular compacta que enfoca toda la atención en la herida. 

Utiliza un fondo completamente oscuro del que emergen las figuras gracias a una potente luz lateral dirigida, la cual esculpe los rostros arrugados, las frentes fruncidas y las ropas desgastadas de los santos.

El cuadro generó cierta controversia en su época debido a que retrataba a los santos no como seres divinos con halos, sino como campesinos realistas con manos rudas y ropas raídas.
